Nkum Associates has undertaken a wide variety of consultancy
assignments in-country and outside Ghana on behalf of
international donor agencies and local institutions.
Our strength is in the use of adult learning and participatory methodologies in multi-cultural settings. This involves games, audio-visuals, guided imagery, participatory rapid appraisal, story-telling/narrative therapy, case studies, role-plays and community theatre. We also use local proverbs and adapted versions of GRAAP and the SARAR techniques to stimulate and facilitate processes, which bring people of diverse backgrounds and interests together to openly share and arrive at consensus for mutual development.
We have worked with several rural communities, district assemblies/administrations, donor-supported projects, and project management teams in Ghana, South Africa and Nigeria, linking their community initiatives to District level service delivery agencies and NGOs. We work in the areas of self-help promotion and community level planning processes, assisting, training and promoting the initiatives and skills of rural communities for self-help.
We are known in international and local circles as facilitators of change processes, workshops, seminars and group processes, and also as trainers in the Logical Framework Analysis methodology as well as in participatory project cycle management. We work with project managers, NGOs, consultants, administrators, and leaders of civil society groups to promote cross-sectoral and multi-disciplinary analysis and planning of development interventions in multi-cultural settings.
