Over the past 25 years or so, we in Nkum Associates, have come to believe in the evidence that nations flourish, organisations thrive, and communities become healthy spaces for growth not only because they consistently co-create and implement good plans. The primarily factor that seems to explain sustained growth in all human systems is good leadership, a collaborative and collective process, which creates and grows a culture that enables and rewards people to give their best in their various fields of endeavour. Nations that flourish, organisations that thrive and communities that become healthy spaces of excellence co-create cultures that enable the growth of their human capital to foresee and innovate workable and scalable solutions to existential and emerging challenges. There is enough evidence to show that cultures that give priority to the advancement of their human capital are capable of creating solutions that move them towards sustained excellence.
We also believe in the evidence that given the right conditions and relevant awareness, all human systems (individuals, groups, organisations, communities, societies, and larger systems) have the capacity and tendency to gravitate towards self-actualisation and improvement. This is the underlying motivation for us in Nkum Associates to function as enablers and process facilitators of human systems, seeing them as complex adaptive systems, and applying a holistic and systems approach to promote dialogues and learning that support self-discovery, pattern recognition, and a sustained drive towards excellence. We enable systems to develop the capacity to embrace and management emergence.
Our specific fields of engagement are organisation and leadership development, executive and team coaching, strategic thinking and strategy development, behaviour change and project cycle management. Within these fields of action, we have accumulated experiences and tools that enable us to support human systems, at all levels, to learn and improve their ways of being and engaging with other systems, and how to advance themselves, their operations and their environments.
We function from the paradigm that the world is become increasingly more volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous, and that all human systems are complex adaptive systems that require leadership processes, influencing mechanisms and championship approaches that are agile, pro-active, multi-faceted and capable of embracing and managing emergence. We, therefore, work with human systems at all levels to enhance this awareness and the corresponding abilities. We believe that when people become fully aware of what they need, and the efficacy or otherwise of the processes and behaviour patterns they are deploying to satisfy those needs, they naturally mobilise their energies towards the desired change to drive towards excellence.
