REV. JOHN OSBORNE CASTRO NKUM

Lead Consultant and Executive Director

Rev. John Nkum is an Organisation Development, and Development Planning and Management consultant. He has worked as an organization development consultant and faculty member of the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland since 1996. He is also a Partner of the GestaltOD Partners and iGOLD Centre registered in the USA, that offers the international organization and leadership development programme. He has been an international consultant, trainer and process facilitator of organisation development and change, strategic planning, decentralisation and local governance, participatory project planning and project management at all levels since 1988. He has undertaken several assignments in this field within Africa and Europe for the German Development Co-operation (GIZ), the British Department for International Development (DFID), the World Bank-Ghana Office, DANIDA, UNICEF, IBIS, SNV, IITA, IBM, and many other international agencies.

Rev. Nkum has also facilitated change processes, team building, group dynamics retreats and training programmes and multi-stakeholder dialogue sessions for several organisations and multicultural project management teams in Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Botswana, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. He has also facilitated change processes, strategic planning, multi-stakeholder dialogues and participatory decision-making sessions with the core management personnel of banks, several District Assemblies/municipalities in Ghana and South Africa as well as a large number of NGOs in Africa. He has trained many trainers in OD, participatory methodologies for planning and management of development projects and community development initiatives for the AU Commission, UNICEF (Ghana, East and Southern Africa region), the Department of Community Development (Ghana), DFID in Nigeria, Institute of Local Government Studies (Ghana), and several country/organizational partners of GIZ in Europe, as well as West and Southern Africa regions.

 

Rev. Nkum has a Master’s Degree in Development Planning and Management (1988), a BSc. Degree in Planning (1979) and a Diploma in Physical Planning (1977). He has Post Graduate certificates in: Gestalt Methods – Working with Groups (2001); Advanced Group Work – Design Skills in an Organisational Setting (2001); Working with Intimate Systems, applied to Couples and Families and other Small Systems (2001); Managing Organisational Change (1997), Gestalt Approach to Organisation and System Development (1996), Process Oriented Supervision in Multicultural Context (1993), and Rural Energy Planning (1990). Mr. Nkum is also a certified user of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator Between 1998 and 2012, Rev. Nkum was a core faculty member of the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland Organization and Systems Development Centre, Ohio, USA that conducted the International Organisation and Systems Development Programme. He is currently a Partner of the GestaltOD Partners, an organization offering gestalt organization and leadership development programmes internationally. Rev. Nkum is the founder and CEO of the Organisation Development Centre-Ghana, a non-profit organisation that has been offering training and consulting services in

OD in Ghana since 2005. He is also a member of the Ghana Institute of Planners, the OD Network, the Membership Committee of the National Training Laboratory Institute (NTL).

Rev. Nkum is also the Senior Associate Pastor of Tesano Baptist Church in Accra, Ghana, where he volunteers his services in teaching, counselling and couples/family therapy.
